Skokie Hospital – Central Plant

Skokie, Illinois

As part of Eckenhoff Saunders’ $110 million master plan for hospital improvements, this energy-efficient facility is designed to meet LEED certification standards. The building’s projecting elements and curved corners harmonize with the campus’s overall aesthetic. This two-story structure, which includes a partial basement, mezzanine, and loading dock, houses critical infrastructure such as chillers, boilers, emergency generators, and rooftop cooling towers, along with materials management services. A large west-facing window bathes the mechanical spaces in natural light, while the project’s complex rooftop piping structure seamlessly integrates with the hospital, underscoring its technical sophistication.
