NOMA Mixed-Use Development
Chicago (West Town)
1.6 million sf
NOMA is a transformative mixed-use development located in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. Envisioned and entitled by Shapack Partners, the 3.25-acre, multi-phased project will redevelop a five-block district immediately north of Fulton Market into a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented destination featuring residential, hospitality, office, retail, entertainment, and public gathering spaces.
Eckenhoff Saunders serves as Executive Architect, partnering with ODA New York to guide the planning, design, coordination, and entitlement efforts for the approximately 1.6 million-sf development. The project requires extensive collaboration with stakeholders and city agencies to establish a cohesive vision for one of Chicago’s most significant urban redevelopment opportunities.
Bounded by Ohio Street, Hubbard Street, Halsted Street, and Desplaines Street, the development transforms a largely underutilized area into a dynamic mixed-use neighborhood. The initial phase includes the adaptive reuse of the former Salvation Army Headquarters at 509 North Union, converting the historic structure into a 140-key boutique hotel and restaurant destination while preserving an important piece of the site’s architectural heritage.
Upon completion, NOMA will create a new urban district that extends the energy of Fulton Market westward, delivering a mix of housing, hospitality, commercial space, and neighborhood amenities that contribute to the continued evolution of Chicago’s Near West Side.
