Ascension Alexian Brothers – OR Expansion/Renovation

Eckenhoff Saunders designed an addition to the existing surgical suite and sterile supply at Ascension Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, bringing the entire suite up to advanced procedural standards. The project addition is a horizontal expansion, adding a new building with two floors. The new ground floor space is approximately 10,067 sf. The new first level is 11,951 sf and is directly above the new ground floor.
Our team also designed spaces to allow for future sterile processing expansion. Renovation of the existing first-floor post-anesthesia care unit, PACU, is approximately 7,000 sf. The first floor of the new building space is designed as a new surgical suite with four operating rooms and two shelled areas for future operating room expansion. A new elevator and stairs will directly connect both levels. Eckenhoff Saunders also refreshed all the finishes during the renovation, giving the spaces a bright, new, modern look.
