After School Matters at Orleans

Eckenhoff Saunders partnered with After School Matters, a nonprofit dedicated to after-school opportunities for Chicago high school students, on an ambitious redevelopment that reimagines a 36,000-square-foot former Catholic school as a dynamic, resource-rich hub for teens. The completed facility includes a black box theater, gymnasium, state-of-the-art culinary kitchen, art studios, STEM labs, wood shop, and outdoor urban gardens, supporting hands-on learning across creative, technical, and wellness disciplines.
This project builds on Eckenhoff Saunders’ ongoing collaboration with After School Matters, including the After School Matters Wing at Gately Park and the Michael and Karyn Lutz Center for After School Matters, advancing the organization’s mission to create inspiring spaces for youth development throughout Chicago.
