Jordan Community Elementary School

Chicago, Illinois (Rogers Park)

Jordan Academy’s first floor houses preschool through primary classrooms, administrative offices, and a multi-purpose room that functions as a cafeteria and auditorium for school and community use. A full-service kitchen provides breakfast and lunch for students and staff.

Intermediate through upper grades are on the second floor and special-use classrooms and a gym. Because a primary focus of Jordan’s science curriculum is horticulture, Eckenhoff Saunders installed a greenhouse on the third floor, and classes access this space from the science classroom. The third floor, located over the south end of the building, houses a library with a dramatic barrel-vaulted ceiling.
