Highland Park Hospital – Central Plant

When Highland Park Hospital merged with NorthShore University HealthSystem (now Endeavor Health), Eckenhoff Saunders was selected to lead the multi-phased reorganization and revitalization of the 25-acre campus. As part of this comprehensive project, we designed an integrated central plant and parking garage, which houses essential infrastructure, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and emergency power generation systems for the existing hospital and future expansions.
The facility also accommodates parking for 450 vehicles across four levels. The building’s exterior, featuring a brick façade with limestone accents and a glass-enclosed communication stairwell, seamlessly blends with the hospital’s architectural aesthetic. Additionally, an underground tunnel connects the garage and plant to the main hospital, ensuring efficient access and integration.
