Eurostars Magnificent Mile
Chicago, Illinois (River North)
Midwest Construction Magazine’s Award of Merit (Hospitality)
The Eurostars Magnificent Mile’s (former Dana Hotel and Spa) architecture showcases a marked restraint in its use of natural materials, raw space, and, perhaps most importantly, its size: each floor consists of only 5,700 sf. The building’s design is an exercise in simplicity, resulting in an uncomplicated yet highly refined hotel.
The exterior facade is a glass and aluminum window wall bordered by form-lined, cast-in-place concrete. The 28-foot clear glass curtain wall offers pedestrians views of an opulent bar and suspended sushi restaurant on the ground floor, along with sights into the sophisticated modern lobby on the second floor. Hotel guests enter under a glass canopy and take a luminous, lantern-like elevator to the main lobby.
Guestrooms have exposed concrete ceilings, wood floors, and a clear glass shower with breathtaking city views. Eurostars Magnificent Mile’s unique rooftop lounge features stunning views of downtown Chicago. Extending over the south elevation is a horizontal cantilevered surface onto which the hotel projects images to passersby below.
