Occupying more than a full city block, the massive Canal Center consolidates the Northern Trust’s corporate banking, trust, and mail processing departments. The eight-story, 900,000 sf building maximizes interior flexibility through large floor plates (over 100,000 sf), large bay sizes, multiple stair and elevator cores, and a raised accessed floor throughout the building. Each level and elevator core has a unique visual identity to orient visitors within the building. The dramatic three-story entry atrium combines a lounge with a two-story cascading fountain. Other amenities include indoor parking for 600 cars, interior truck docks, cafeteria, child care center, fitness facility, and large outdoor terraces.
